Pressure injuries can result from pressure and/or shear forces on the skin and underlying tissues. This session will review various in-vitro testing methods used to evaluate various physical performance characteristics, such as pressure redistribution and shear management, of multilayered dressings constructed with soft silicone foam and other materials utilized in pressure injury prevention. The clinical implications of these testing methods in selecting dressings to use in pressure injury prevention will also be explored.
